Worcester Radio Group member Walker Ranck, KC3RAP, recently attended Youth On the Air Camp in Huntsville, Alabama June 14-19, 2026. 35 campers from 17 states and 3 countries had a great week of kit building, youth led learning, and community bonding. Youth On the Air features activities led by other young hams, ranging from 15-25 years of age.
In addition to the community building, students launched two Pico baloons, visited the US Space and Rocket Center and Signals Museum. KC3RAP was able to take part in an ARISS contact with NASA Astronaut Chris Williams, KJ5GEW,on the International Space Station. Walker highly recommends Youth on the Air both a resource for young people interested in amateur radio and as a very rewarding summer camp.
