The Worcester Radio Group Lending Library was created to give club members a way to share books on amateur radio and related subjects. The books are stored at the Berlin Fire Company Admin building and participants can check out books during the regular WRG club meetings for a month or longer. They can also make suggestions on books they would like to see added to the library.
The Worcester Radio Group Lending Library (WRG-LL) is a way for club members to
share useful books with other club members. Below are guidelines for the lending library.
1. DONATIONS TO THE WRG-LL
A. Books donated to the WRG-LL become the property of the Worcester Radio Group.
B. Books donated to the club should be in reasonable condition.
C. Books should only be donated if the donor believes it would be of interest to other
members. WRG reserves the right to refuse a donation.
D. The WRG-LL will be maintaining a list of suggested books. Periodically, we may receive
funds designated for the LL. Those funds may be used to purchase books from the
suggested list. Send info on suggested books to Mike Winaker at
michael.winaker@gmail.com.
E. Anyone who wishes to donate books can simply bring them to a meeting. Write your
name and callsign on the inside back cover. To expedite adding items to the LL,
donors can send information in advance about the book to Mike Winaker. This
information should include the title, author, copyright date, edition (if applicable)
and the ISBN barcode number usually found on the back of the book. You can also
send a picture of the barcode. Sending the info in advance will allow the book to be
added to the book list and put into circulation sooner.
2. CHECKING OUT BOOKS
A. Items are usually checked out for approximately 30 days. Books checked out at a club
meeting should be brought back at the next regular club meeting. If there’s no one
waiting to check out that item, you can keep the book for an additional 30 days. This
may be repeated as long as no one else is waiting to check out the book.
B. Each book will have a card in a pocket in the back with info about the book as well as
space for names when the book is checked out or reserved.
C. To check out a book, you simply write the current date in the 1st column and your name in the 2nd column and then drop the card in the file box on the library shelf. Members may be limited to checking out two titles at a time.
D. To reserve a book that is out, retrieve the card from the box, write your name on the
card. Leave the date space blank. Place the card back into the box. When the book
is returned, you can check it out by simply adding the current date next to your name
and place it in the box.
E. To return a book, retrieve the card from the box, Write an “R” (for Returned) next to
your name and place it in the pocket in the book. Leave the book on the shelf.
3. MAINTAINING THE LIBRARY
A. Books in the WRG-LL that are not checked out for a period of one year may be removed
from the library.
B. If a book is removed from the library, the club member who donated the book may opt
to have the book returned to them. If the member decides they don’t want the book
back, it may be donated to the Worcester County Library for their book sale or to
another organization. Otherwise, the paper will be recycled.
